No, I couldn’t believe it either.
The UK government has announced that food giants including McDonalds, PepsiCo, KFC, Mars, Pizza Hut and Compass (the catering company that brought us the infamous turkey twizzlers) are to help shape nutrition policies in the future.
Bonkers or what?

Actually, I’m lost for words on the subject (the sheer stupidity of it all has struck me dumb!), so take a look at Laura’s column to find out more. As she says, the food campaigner Sustain has come up with the perfect description of the lunacy… “This is the equivalent of putting the tobacco industry in charge of smoke-free space.”
So look out for turkey twizzlers not just on school menus but on government healthy eating advice leaflets in the not-so-distant future. You have been warned.
